September 23, 2023 —  Day of Recollection with Bishop Bejerano

Eucharistic Revival Prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, you give us your flesh and blood for the life of the
world, and you desire that all people come to the Supper of the Sacrifice
of the Lamb. Renew in your Church the truth, beauty, and goodness
contained in the Most Blessed Eucharist.
Jesus living in the Eucharist, come and live in me.
Jesus healing in the Eucharist, come and heal me.
Jesus sacrificing yourself in the Eucharist, come and suffer in me.
Jesus rising in the Eucharist, come and rise to new life in me.
Jesus loving in the Eucharist, come and love in me.
Lord Jesus Christ, through the paschal mystery of your death and
resurrection made present in every Holy Mass, pour out your healing
love on your Church and on our world. Grant that as we lift you up
during this time of Eucharistic Revival, your Holy Spirit may draw all
people to join us at this Banquet of Life. You live and reign with the
Father and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. AMEN.

AMEN

Prayer for the Synod:

We stand before you, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in your name.
with you alone to guide us, make yourself at home in our hearts.
teach us the way we must go, and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful, do not let us promote disorder.
do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path, nor partially influence our actions.
Let us find in you our unity
so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray
from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of you, who are at work in every place and time,
in the communion of the father and the son forever and ever. Amen

Gathering Song

Tend the Ground
By Curtis Stephan

Refrain
We till the earth, we tend the ground,
sowing hope and peace where none is found.
In selfless love God’s life abounds.
We till the earth, we tend the ground.

  1. As God provides our every need,
    with grateful hearts, let us receive
    these gifts of love, and make return
    to bless the world, to bless the world.
    Refrain
    We till the earth, we tend the ground,
    sowing hope and peace where none is found.
    In selfless love God’s life abounds.
    We till the earth, we tend the ground.

  2. All creatures share one common home,
    one loving God, one song of hope.
    The rocks cry out and praises ring,
    rise up and sing, rise up and sing!
    Refrain
    We till the earth, we tend the ground,
    sowing hope and peace where none is found.
    In selfless love God’s life abounds.
    We till the earth, we tend the ground.

  3. With open hand our Lord has giv’n
    his life for all that we might live.
    No greater love is there than this,
    no greater love, no greater love.
    Refrain
    We till the earth, we tend the ground,
    sowing hope and peace where none is found.
    In selfless love God’s life abounds.
    We till the earth, we tend the ground.

Responsorial Psalm
“We are His people, the sheep of His flock.”

Profession of Faith

I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
(please bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day,
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the Prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.  Amen.

Preparation of the Gifts

10,000 Reasons

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
O my soul, worship his holy name.
Sing like never before, O my soul.
I’ll worship your holy name.

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning;
It’s time to sing your song again.
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me,
Let me be singing when the evening comes.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
O my soul, worship his holy name.
Sing like never before, O my soul.
I’ll worship your holy name.

You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger,
Your name is great and your heart is kind;
For all your goodness I will keep on singing,
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
O my soul, worship his holy name.
Sing like never before, O my soul.
I’ll worship your holy name.

And on that day when my strength is failing,
The end draws near and my time has come;
Still my soul sings your praise unending,
Ten thousand years and then forevermore.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
O my soul, worship his holy name.
Sing like never before, O my soul.
I’ll worship your holy name.

Communion

Gift of Finest Wheat

You satisfy the hungry heart
With gift of finest wheat;
Come give to us, O saving Lord,
The bread of life to eat.

  1. As when the shepherd calls his sheep,
    They know and heed his voice;
                So when you call your fam'ly, Lord,
                We follow and rejoice.

You satisfy the hungry heart
With gift of finest wheat;
Come give to us, O saving Lord,
The bread of life to eat.

  1. With joyful lips we sing to you
    Our praise and gratitude,
                That you should count us worthy, Lord,
                To share this heav'nly food.

You satisfy the hungry heart
With gift of finest wheat;
Come give to us, O saving Lord,
The bread of life to eat.

  1. Is not the cup we bless and share
    The blood of Christ outpoured?
                Do not one cup, one loaf, declare
                Our oneness in the Lord?

You satisfy the hungry heart
With gift of finest wheat;
Come give to us, O saving Lord,
The bread of life to eat.

  1. The myst'ry of your presence, Lord,
    No mortal tongue can tell:
                Whom all the world cannot contain
                Comes in our hearts to dwell.

You satisfy the hungry heart
With gift of finest wheat;
Come give to us, O saving Lord,
The bread of life to eat.

  1. You give yourself to us, O Lord;
    Then selfless let us be,
                To serve each other in your name
                In truth and charity.

You satisfy the hungry heart
With gift of finest wheat;
Come give to us, O saving Lord,
The bread of life to eat.

Sending Forth

Tend The Ground

Refrain
We till the earth, we tend the ground,
sowing hope and peace where none is found.
In selfless love God’s life abounds.
We till the earth, we tend the ground.

    1. Where hardened hearts have turned to greed,
      trampling upon the fledgling seed,
      help us to tend to others’ needs,
      open our eyes, open our eyes.
      Refrain
      We till the earth, we tend the ground,
      sowing hope and peace where none is found.
      In selfless love God’s life abounds.
      We till the earth, we tend the ground.

    2. On rocky paths and trodden roads,
      Lord, clear the ground where thorns have grown.
      Give us the grace to follow you.
      Make straight the way, make straight the way.
      Refrain
      We till the earth, we tend the ground,
      sowing hope and peace where none is found.
      In selfless love God’s life abounds.
      We till the earth, we tend the ground.

    3. Let plows be forged from swords that kill.
      Let tools of war be shaped to till
      and break the hard and stony ground.
      Lord, bring your peace, Lord, bring your peace.
      Refrain
      We till the earth, we tend the ground,
      sowing hope and peace where none is found.
      In selfless love God’s life abounds.
      We till the earth, we tend the ground.
